This annual phenomenon occurs when Earth passes through the debris left behind by Halley's Comet, and the meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Orion, hence the name.

Understanding when and where to observe this event can enhance the experience and ensure that you don't miss this magnificent display.

The Orionid meteor shower typically peaks in late October, with the best viewing times being around October 20-22 each year.

The shower starts in early October and lasts until early November, but the peak period is when the meteors are most frequent and brightest.

During this peak, stargazers can expect to see up to 20 meteors per hour under ideal conditions.

The best time to view the Orionid meteor shower is during the early morning hours before dawn.

This is when the sky is darkest and the constellation Orion is highest in the sky, providing optimal viewing conditions.
